I’ve been thinking about getting a new kettlebell for a while now. I finally bit the bullet today and bought two new kettlebells, a 16kg and a 20kg. Since I already have a 16kg I’ll have a pair so I can do workouts requiring a pair of kettlebells. I’ll use the 20kg kettlebells for the workouts I do now that require one kettlebell that I’m finding too easy when using a single 16kg kettlebell.

This evenings workout was another mix of bodyweight and dumbbell exercises, I use the heaviest dumbbells I can and perform compound exercise that use as many big muscle groups as possible. I like to choose my exercises based on movement patterns, and not the specific muscles they work. Compound exercises also saves time since you won’t have to spend a single isolation exercise on a particular muscle group. For example, the squat works the quads, hamstrings, lower back, traps, and abs in one go. You don’t have to do separate exercises for each muscle group. This is the way to build a strong, muscular body using dumbbells. Making your dumbbell workout as challenging as possible not only burns a lot of calories during the workout but also for hours AFTER the workout is completed.
